The Waldos

After Heartbreakers broke up, Walter Lure started a new band named after the nickname that Johnny Thunders had affectionately dubbed up him: The Waldos. You can actually hear Thunders calling out to Waldo in many of the Heartbreakers’ live performances.

The Waldos were mostly a live band, picking up shows in New York City when Walter and his bandmates felt they wanted some extra money…. They called these gigs “Rent Parties”, and so their first album was called Rent Party as well.

After his retirement from Wall Street, Walter re-constituted the Waldos with a new set of bandmates and put out a second album with a bunch of new material but also revisiting some songs from the past, like London Boys, Take A Chance On Me and Don’t Mess With Cupid..
