Before Dinosaur Jr, J Mascis and Lou Barlow played in Deep Wound with their friends Charlie Nakajima and Scott Helland. It was a meeting of the Western Mass high schools - J and Charlie coming from Amherst regional while Scott and Lou came from Westfield.
